Bending forming technology of TA18 high strength titanium alloy pipe used in aviation

TA18 high strength titanium alloy has become the preferred material for aviation pipeline system because of its excellent comprehensive performance. The bending forming technology level of pipe is very important to the performance of aircraft. The development of TA18 high-strength titanium alloy pipe is still in its early stage in China. In order to meet the demand of lean aviation products, it is urgent to establish a relatively comprehensive titanium alloy pipe bending forming process system and numerical simulation system.
TA18 titanium alloy is a low aluminum equivalent nearly α type titanium alloy evolved from TC4 titanium alloy, and its nominal composition is Ti-3Al-2.5V. The strength of TA18 titanium alloy is 20 ~ 50% higher than that of pure titanium at room temperature and high temperature. It not only has good mechanical properties and corrosion resistance at room temperature and high temperature, but also has excellent plasticity, formability and welding properties in cold and hot processing. The alloy is not sensitive to notches and has good corrosion resistance, making it the preferred material for aerospace piping systems.
TA18 titanium alloy pipe has become the preferred material for aerospace pipeline system, which is widely used abroad, but is still in its infancy in China. Due to the current demand of lean aviation products, it is extremely urgent to study the forming technology of high efficiency, high precision, high yield and low cost of titanium alloy pipe in the future. In order to realize the precise nc bending forming of titanium alloy pipe, it is urgent to establish a set of relatively comprehensive technological system and numerical simulation system of titanium alloy pipe bending forming.
