DMRL, the national defense Metallurgy Research Laboratory under the national defense research and DRDO of India, has developed a near isothermal forging technology for the production of titanium alloy components of aeroengines.
At present, the Indian defense research and development organization is using this forging technology to manufacture titanium alloy aeroengine high-pressure compressor discs on its 2000 ton isothermal forging press. It is reported that DMRL has signed a technology transfer license agreement latot with Indian midhani company, and plans to use DMRL isothermal forging equipment to jointly produce 200 high-pressure compressor discs with midhani company to provide parts for the production of adour engine by Hindustan Hal airlines.
DMRL disclosed that the compressor disc produced by this technology has passed the type certification and can meet all the requirements specified by the airworthiness department. Hal and the Indian Air Force have approved the use of such compressor discs.
In addition to DMRL and Hal companies, midhani company, Indian military aircraft airworthiness and Certification Center cemilac and Indian aviation quality assurance administration dgaqa have recognized this technology.
